On 7 April 2017, we had organized a panel discussion on “Rhino Translocation: Is it a Good science?”. The programme was started on a welcome note by Biraj Shrestha, RHF Research Officer and was moderated by Prof Dr Tej Bdr Thapa, RHF Board Member. Four panelists, Dr Maheshwar Dhakal, MoFSC; Dr Naresh Subedi, NTNC; Dr Jhamak B. Karki, KAFCOL and Dr Shiva Raj Bhatta, WWF, started out by sharing some of their own experiences and perspective on rhino translocation. Dr Dhakal and Dr Subedi narrated a variety of issues related to the security, biological management and genetic maintenance of the species along with the policy that the country has adopted. With the talk of Dr Karki and Dr Bhatt, the discussion concluded, rhino translocation as a good science to safeguard this endangered species and to strengthen its population in different National Park of the country. The program ended with the closing remarks and vote of thanks by Dr Deep Narayan Shah, RHF Board Member.
