On 31st October, 2011 Dr. Pralad Yonzon, founder of Resources Himalaya Foundation passed away after being hit by a truck on his bicycle while travelling from office to home in which we lost one of the leading idol conservation biologists in Asia and a pioneer for Red Panda conservation.
In loving memory of Late Dr. Pralad Yonzon, Resources Himalaya Foundation (RHF), Environmental Graduates in Himalaya (EGH), Cycle City Network (CCN) and Project Sarangi pay tribute towards his great contribution by organizing the event: “ In the commemoration of Dr Pralad B Yonzon”, Critical Mass Event: Remembering Dr Pralad B Yonzon on 27th October, 2017 (Friday).
The programme was started from Basantapur at around 5:30 with the cycle rally with slogan “Be Visible”. Over 40 cyclists participated in the event and arrived at the premises of Resources Himalaya Foundation at 7:00 pm followed by lighting of butter lamp. Further, Mr Saroj Basnet, EGH Coordinator, started the programme on a welcome note to paid tribute to Dr. Yonzon remembering his contributions towards conservation and youth empowerment. Dr Dinesh Raj Bhuju, Secretary of Resources Himalaya Foundation, spoke about late Dr Yonzon’s passion towards cycling and how his lifestyle had inspired the youths. Mr Shail Shrestha, President of Kathmandu Cycle City 2020 highlight about the events. Artist from Project Sarangi played the instrument as a tribute tune in the programme and at the last of the programme, short video regarding the contribution and message of Dr. Yonzon was displayed.
