WORLD WATER DAY 2019

Environment Graduates in Himalaya (EGH) has a long tradition of marking important days. On March 22, Environment Graduates in Himalaya (EGH) in collaboration with Resources Himalaya Foundation (RHF) had marked up “World Water Day 2019” by organizing a panel discussion which was moderated by Dr. Dadhi Adhikari, Senior economist at Institute for Strategic and Socioeconomic Research and the panelist were Dr. Ram Devi Tachamo Shah, Researcher at Kathmandu University, Dr. Chiranjibi Bhattarai, Executive Coordinator at Nepal Water Conservation Foundation and Mr. Purna Man Shrestha, Project Manager at Resources Himalaya Foundation. The program was started by a welcome note by Ms. Anjana Suwal, EGH Coordinator and then moderated by Dr. Dadhi Adhikari with the brief introduction of the panelist. He highlighted on the sustainable management of the water resources to distribute the water to all. Dr. Chiranjibi Bhattarai lightened on the rules and regulations of the water right and the articles on the Constitution of Nepal that describes on the right of all towards the clean, safe and enough water for all human. Dr. Ram Devi Tachamo Shah focused on the ecology of the fresh water ecosystem. She also mentioned about the preservation of the water resources not only for our own benefit but also for securing the  water ecosystem. In the same way, Mr. Purna Man Shrestha focused on the threats to the aquatic life by the water pollution as well as about the effects of climate change on the water ecosystem. Eventually Dr. Adhikari concluded the discussion by highlighting on the sustainable management of the water resources. The program ended with vote of thanks and closing remarks by Dr. Ramji Bogati , Board member of Resources Himalaya Foundation with handing a token of appreciation to the guests.
